#1. Yarn Bowl

This is the must-have for all knitters. when we are knitting, the yarn tends to roll away and correct dust and hair, especially if you have a pet in the house. The bowl will allow the yarn to stay in place and keep it clean. There are many handcrafted ceramic bowls on Etsy. The mud place on Etsy offers personalized yarn bowls, which add a nice touch as a gift (Currently offering 10% off qualified purchases).

I also like a wooden yarn bowl. It will be a better option for those who have very active kids or pets in the household. Knitpicks is one of my favorite knitting supply stores, and they are offering amazing deals right now.

#2. Knitting Bag

If you have a serious knitter, he/she will bring a knitting project (or possibly multiple projects lol) everywhere. A bag with multiple components is amazing for knitters who tend to have more than one project and like to bring knitting on the go. The little holes on the top prevent the yarn from getting tangled and make it easier to pull yarn while knitting.

A little pouch is convenient for carrying a project inside a purse. It is not the best for a large project but is perfect for smaller projects like socks, hats, and mittens. It has a couple of small pockets for knitting tools so that everything knitting can be separated from all the other stuff in the purse.

And speaking of a purse, this gorgeous leather bag from Furls looks just like a normal purse, but it is a knitting bag! The design is simple yet sophisticated. It can be coordinated with casual clothing or with business attire. I mean, let’s be honest…many knitters carry their projects to work, right? The function of the bag as a knitting bag is as good as its look.

#3. Yarn Swift and Yarn Winder

When we purchase yarn, sometimes it comes in a hank, which means the yarn is wound into a large loop and twisted for easier packaging and shipping. When we get a hank of yarn, we have to open it up and then wind the yarn to start a project. Otherwise, it will turn into a huge tangled mess.

And this process is very painful, especially when we have a project we would like to knit immediately. There are tools to ease this frustration and make this process much faster and easier. It is called yarn swift and yarn winder.

Yarn swift is to keep the yarn in place and spin. So it is easier to wind the yarn.

And the yarn winder is to make the ball of yarn in a very quick and neat way.

Having a set is totally life-changing for a knitter. Knitpicks offers a bundle that also includes a yarn bowl.

If you don’t have a lot of budget to purchase both, I highly recommend getting a swifter first. So it makes things easier to wind yarn into a ball by hand.

#4. Chart Keeper

A chart keeper is like a binder. We can use it to keep a printed chart flat and straight. the best part is that the binder comes with magnetic strips, which helps knitters to keep track of their work. It is perfect for those who don’t like to read patterns by using devices.

#5. Scissors

We can certainly use a regular pair of scissors, but who doesn’t like a cute pair of scissors like this? Primitive Originals on Etsy offers these pretty scissors, which can be paired with a wooden case. You can also personalize the engravings on the case.

#6. Stitch Markers

If you are on a tight budget, stitch markers are something low-cost, useful, and pretty items to gift. Go to Etsy and search for “stitch markers.” You will find many varieties. My favorite place to shop for markers is on Etsy. Thread Lightly HK offers so many designs. The pictures are just a few examples. I bet you can find the perfect design for her.

On the side note, if the knitter tends to knit with very fine yarn, I also recommend looking into Country Knits by Monica on Etsy. She makes snag-free stitch markers with wires. I find it useful when working with small needles with fine yarn.

#7. Interchangeable Circular Knitting Needles Set

It is a great gift for those who recently started to knit and fell in love with the craft. The chances are he/she has been buying a different set of needles every time he/she gets a new pattern.

Knitters need different-sized needles because yarn can vary from very thin, like thread, to very thick, like a rope. Depending on the yarn we are working with, we have to adjust the needle size. On top of it, depending on the project size and the technique used in the pattern, we have to change the needle length and styles too. This is one of the biggest reasons why knitters own so many knitting needles.

In the modern world, we have circular knitting needles, which needles are connected by a cable. This needle does a lot more than traditional-style needles. It is a multi-tasker. But there is one problem. Since the cable and knitting needles are permanently attached, we still have to get the different lengths, depending on what we are working on (For example, knitting a small hat requires short cable, and a big sweater requires longer cable to accommodate the circumference)

And that’s why we have interchangeable needles to solve the problem. The set comes in various sizes of needles and cables. The needles and cables are detachable. So we can switch and customize the needles’ size and cable length as needed.

The set allows us to work on most projects without running out to the store. I Highly recommend the set of ChiaoGoo Twist Red Lace. It is one of the most popular needle sets. I use these needles 90% of the time, and I really wish I had gotten them sooner, so I didn’t have to spend so much money on needles.

#8. Luxury Organizer

From various stitch markers, little cable needles, scissors, tapestry needles, and more. Organizing little knitting tools can be a challenge sometimes. Most knitters have some sort of pouch or containers to put little tools in place. But I don’t think many knitters have this luxurious leather organizer. The beautiful look with the highly functional organizer will be a fantastic gift for the holiday, and I’m sure it will be cherished for a lifetime.

#9. Knitting Kits and Subscriptions

Personally, a knitting kit is one of the most exciting gifts, especially if you know the recipient’s style. we don’t have to spend time searching for patterns and yarn to fit into the budget. Everything is right in the box, and as soon as we open the box, we can start knitting.

Wool and the Gang and We are Knitters offer so many knitting kits. The design is modern and made for younger generations. wool and the gang tend to have modern bright colored knitting for younger generations. We are knitters is also a modern style, but the colors tend to be subtle.

If you know a sock knitter who is constantly making socks, sock knitting kits and gift sets are available on Etsy. From Devon With Love UK has very pretty Christmas sock knitting kits. She is located in the UK, but the shipping cost is not too bad, considering it is international shipping.

I also found a store, The Zippy Zebra. She hand dyes beautiful yarn and creates sock-knitting kits using her own yarn. If the recipient enjoys indy dyers yarn and knit socks, it would be a perfect gift!!

Some knitters love to knit cute little stuffed animals. Kits from Knit for Victory made me smile just by looking at the pictures.

If the recipient tends to knit with subtle natural colors and/or loves colorwork (the kind of sweater pattern you picture from Austria). I would say traditional knitting would interest your recipient. Knitting kits on The Woolly Thistle are breathtaking, and there are so many options too!

If you would like to keep gifting throughout the year by sending subscription boxes. Annie’s knit kit and Knitcrate offer nice subscription boxes.

#10. Books

If you have a knitter who also loves books. Definitely get a knitting book! It can be a book to learn something new and useful for knitting, such as Vogue Knitting Ultimate Knitting Book, 400 knitting stitches, Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible…etc.

You can also gift knitting-inspired novels. Anne Hood has published a few knitting-related novels, and I do enjoy reading them. Gifting an audible membership is also an amazing idea if your recipient loves reading novels. I always complain that I cannot read and knit at the same time. So I tend to listen to books instead.

There are many knitting magazines that you can get a year subscription for the recipient. I like Vogue Knitting Magazines and Interweave Knit Magazines. Rowan is not a subscription magazine but releases beautiful patterns seasonally.

#11. Home Decor

If you know a knitter who has been knitting for many years and already has so many tools and yarn, It would be a great idea to gift something related but not necessary for knitting. Like purchase a wall print, printing it out, and framing it for the gift. A mug with funny knitting quote..etc.

#12. Fiber Festival Event Ticket

There are many fiber festival events held all over the country. If you are in the area where a big fiber event happens, you can gift a ticket to the festival. If it is a bit far away, you can always include a hotel reservation or travel cost in the gift card.

One show I’ve been wanting to visit is the Vogue Knitting Live show. It takes place in different major cities in the U.S. Tickets tend to be more expensive, so it will make a great gift for someone who would enjoy a knitting getaway and sightseeing in a big city like new york.
