It is March already!! Can you believe it!? I feel like groundhog day was yesterday.

Where I grow up in Japan, it would feel like spring is right there. Cherry blossoms are getting ready to bloom and the sunlight is getting stronger and brighter. If I was there, I would be working on pastel colors, mohair, fine lace yarn, and lace knitting patterns. Here in Northern New York is a bit of a different story though…

It is still freezing outside. We experienced freezing rain followed by a whiteout blizzard in the last couple of weeks. I’m OK with working with heavy wool yarn for 2 more months to keep myself or others warm.

This chunky quick knit scarf was made a few weeks ago when the highest temp was 0 degrees. I know…ZERO degrees in Fahrenheit, not in Celsius!

I’ve been busy knitting for others and not for myself lately. It was about time I create something for my own. This easy, quick knit scarf was exactly what I needed to warm my neck and face. After three nights of sitting in front of the TV binging my favorite TV show, I had this scarf ready to go.

Yarn Used

Since it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, I needed yarn right away. Otherwise, I know I wouldn’t start the project for myself lol There is no yarn store in the area (Maybe I should open one lol) and I also wanted something cost-effective. Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick was a perfect choice. It is reasonably priced and available in major craft stores and supermarkets such as Michael’s and Walmart, so I could grab them right away. It is a blend of 86% Acrylic, 10% Wool, and 4% Rayon and machine washable yarn.

If you like more natural fiber or no artificial fiber at all, these are some alternative yarns.

Rico Essentials Super Super Chunky – 50% Wool, 50% Acrylic

MillaMia Naturally Soft Super Chunk – 100% Merino Wool

Cascade Lana Grande – 100% Wool

Rowan Big Wool Yarn – 100% Merino Wool
